A single score from 0 to 1000 that blends how accurately you answer comprehension questions (weighted by passage difficulty) with your reading speed. Speed only counts once your comprehension is solid, so fast, careless reading does not inflate it. It needs a handful of questions to calibrate before the band label settles.

Each day Hone Literacy picks a set of short passages for you — the default is three. Finish them all to keep your streak. You can change the daily goal (1, 3, or 5 passages) and your preferred passage length in Settings → Reading.

Two sources, both clean of third-party copyright: works in the public domain (with attribution) such as Aesop, Austen, Darwin, Lincoln, and Twain; and original passages written for the app. New readings are added regularly.

Tap Settings → Get latest readings. The app checks for a newer published set and downloads it — no App Store update required. The app also ships with a full library built in, so it works offline from day one.

Only if you turn them on. In Settings you can enable one daily reminder at a time you choose; it is off by default and uses a local notification — nothing leaves your device.
