Is my financial data secure?

Yes. Everything is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Ask Monie has no server and never transmits your financial information anywhere. Your data may be included in your own iCloud backup if you have that enabled.

How do I log a transaction?

Tap the teal + button in the center of the tab bar. Enter an amount and tap Save — that’s it. Optionally add a title, category, date, recurrence, or note. Titles you’ve logged before appear as one-tap quick-fill chips at the top.

Is Ask Monie free?

Ask Monie is free to use: unlimited transaction logging, full history and monthly insights, one budget, one savings goal, income tracking, streaks, photo attachments, bill splitting, and CSV export are all free forever. Ask Monie Pro is an optional one-time purchase (not a subscription) that unlocks unlimited budgets, unlimited goals, receipt scanning, recurring transactions, and PDF spending reports.

How do I restore my Pro purchase?

Go to Settings and tap “Restore Purchase,” or tap “Restore” on the Pro screen. Ask Monie Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple ID, so it restores for free on any device signed into the same Apple ID — no account or receipt needed.

How do budgets work?

Go to Settings → Budgets to set a spending limit for a category, weekly or monthly. Each budget shows a live daily pace, and you’ll see alerts on the Today tab as you approach or exceed it. The free version includes one budget; Pro unlocks a limit for every category.

How do savings goals work?

In the Goals tab, tap ADD + to create a goal with a name, target, and optional deadline. Add savings any time, and you’ll get a prompt to put some toward a goal whenever you log income. The free version includes one goal; Pro unlocks unlimited goals.

Can I export my data?

Yes, on every tier. In Settings, choose “Export as CSV” for a spreadsheet, or “Spending Report” for a formatted PDF with custom date ranges and category filters. Your data is always yours.

How do recurring transactions work?

When logging a transaction, tap Options and set Repeat to Weekly, Biweekly, or Monthly. Ask Monie generates new entries automatically on the right dates. Manage, pause, or resume them under Settings → Recurring Transactions, which also shows your estimated monthly total. Recurring transactions are a Pro feature.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual items by long-pressing and choosing Delete. To remove everything at once, use Settings → Clear All Data. Uninstalling the app also permanently deletes all stored data.
